Goals and Tasks
As an international interdisciplinary, professional organization, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) will work to further the understanding and treatment of gender dysphoria by professionals in medicine, psychology, law, social work, counseling, psychotherapy, family studies, sociology, anthropology, sexology, speech and voice therapy, and other related fields.
WPATH provides opportunities for professionals from various sub-specialties to communicate with each other in the context of research and treatment of gender dysphoria including sponsoring biennial scientific symposia.
WPATH publishes the Standards of Care and Ethical Guidelines, which articulate a professional consensus about the psychiatric, psychological, medical, and surgical management of gender dysphoria and help professionals understand the parameters within which they may offer assistance to those with these conditions.

Support Groups Chat:

Actually, Aspec is a peer-facilitated aromantic and asexual community group that started in August 2022 as part of the Ethical Society of St. Louis. It hosts two support groups a month (first Tuesday of the month and fourth Thursday of the month).
Al-Anon (Alcoholics Anonymous) is a free mutual support group for people who have been affected by a loved one's drinking. Alateen is a similar family group that supports young people who live with or who have been affected by alcohol.
Similiar to the AA program for people with alcohol use problems, Al-Anon follows a 12-step model and provides a supportive environment where people can find encouragement and support from people who are going through similar experiences.
Resilience is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, including rotating virtual support groups.
Queer Survivors Support Group:
In this group, sexual violence survivors will connect with other queer survivors of sexual violence in weekly sessions to help participants support each other with difficult experiences, the healing process, and transitions. The Montrose Center in Dallas (Texas) provides an open-ended support group for gay, bisexual and/or transgender (FtM) men who have experienced domestic or intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or have been targeted for a hate/bias crime, whether as an adult or a child. Group discussions focus primarily upon trauma recovery, and the impact of violence on relationships, sexuality, career, education, and daily functioning.
New participants must complete a brief intake assessment and meet with the group facilitator prior to joining, and must have already some experience in addressing trauma issues in individual therapy or be in the process of doing so.

Decreasing Stigma and Barriers Associated with Black Men's Mental Health. The Village PATH’s mission is to increase awareness, access + acceptance of mental wellness within Black communities. The Village TAP (Therapy Access Program) provides free therapy to Black self-identified men. The Village ROPE (Rites of Passage Enrichment) program for young adults centers healthy masculinity provides tools for young men to work on building self-confidence and learning conflict resolution while nurturing a safe environment for all participants to deal with social, emotional and cultural issues. Village Healing and Writing Circle is a therapeutic space for men to share with peers.

OutAthlete is an 8-week curriculum to combat the unique mental health and social challenges that LGBTQIA+ athletes encounter. The goal of this group is to reduce the risk of suicide, increase mental health resilience, and decrease feelings of depression and isolation.
Hope Group STL is a weekly support group. It welcomes people in active use and in recovery and families and friends of those in active use or recovery. Meetings end with Lord’s Prayer, but non-Christians are accepted. Queer inclusiveness is unknown.

The St. Louis Anti-Violence Project (STLAVP) facilitates a peer-support group facilitated by their current Executive Director, Clair Antoine (they/them).
On the first Monday of every month at 6:00 pm CT, folks who work as providers in the IPV/SV field and who self-identify as LGBTQ+ are welcome to gather via Zoom to discuss a range of topics. The group has covered topics ranging from rest-as-resistance to resource-sharing, and aims to build a sense of community.

There is a pretty board spectrum of professional connection to the IPV/SV field, so feel free to share widely. It’s a free, low risk, social and professional supportive space.

"The Gender Foundation is a resource group for transgender persons, cross-dressers, transsexuals, androgynous individuals and those who care about them."
Provides: "a safe place for individuals to explore their gender differences through networking, education, and celebration of the individual and the group."
Peer support and socialization is primarily through dinner meetings and monthly luncheon gatherings.
People must be 18 and out of high school to join.

An organization offering LGBTQ+ youth in the greater Kansas City area a safe place and access to educational resources. It's Kansas City's only youth center dedicated to LGBTQ youth and allies, operating now for over 23 years.

Guardian Project is a social discussion group for gay/bi men, ages 18 to 29, that provides positive social events and discussions to keep your mind and body healthy.
St. Louis area peer support group for masculine-of-center people of color to unlearn toxic masculinity, uplift and empower each other, hold each other accountable, and better love and support the femmes in our lives.
Runs Flower Boi Arts Camp, which serves their younger humans in processing and expressing emotions in healthy ways.
NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there.
As a public speaker and LGBTQ+ inclusion consultant, I regularly facilitate trans and queer 101, 201, and 301 sessions to workplaces, hospitals, schools, nonprofits, and families (among other categories of organizations) internationally and would be thrilled to deliver a welcoming and comprehensive training for your group.
Additionally, I offer free coaching to parents and families of trans and queer youth in the evenings and would be happy to support you however I can.
Atlas Youth Outreach is 501 (c) (3) located in Jefferson County, Missouri. Atlas Youth Outreach aims to create a safe place for adolescents, ages 13-18, in Jefferson County to participate in therapeutic services that support social and emotional growth and provide new opportunities for them to gain knowledge for successful futures.
HIV+ Support Group
Free and confidential support group for anyone on the sexuality spectrum with a HIV+ diagnosis -- and/or their partners. It is led by a Sex Therapist who is also poz.
This group is an open community being built upon kindness, compassion, and a sense of humor. We bring the fun into support.
We are a sex-positive and adult HIV group, where sexuality-focused discussion and games are at the center of many meetings. This allows us to "bring back the sexy" and reclaim our sexual selves after our diagnoses -- we are still able to have fun and to feel sexy, regardless of status. We also host meetups, such as to the Zoo, the local museums, and cafes.
We always have free food and drink, and we always play games and socialize. Please give our group a shot if you need support or even if you just want to be a part of the growing POZitive community in Saint Louis.
1st Tuesdays are at Empowered: A Center for Sexuality, LLC and 3rd Tuesdays are at Pride St. Louis.
