"Often people come to MCC in search of a loving spiritual home to heal from religious trauma of their past or of our society. As a great way to find out if this spiritual community might be a place you can find connection, we encourage you to watch online or join a program as a way to cross the threshold into the vulnerability of community. You can also reach out to a pastor to ask questions to understand more about the community.
MCC holds weekly worship in person in South City at 7425 Michigan Ave at 11am and online at [mccgsl.org/live](https://mccgsl.org/live).
For those more interested in a nature-based spirituality, join us for Rugged Spirituality where we engage in contemplative practice, readings, and discussion while we hike. We hike in various places throughout the area on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. To sign up for Rugged Spirituality or other programs, visit: [mccgsl.org/programs](https://mccgsl.org/programs)."

Maplewood United Methodist Church (MUMC or Maplewood UMC) recognizes that the larger Methodist church is not always affirming or accountable, but this group of people of faith have voted to become a reconciling congregation and specifically to Queer and Black people. They provide a small (and very cheap) resale shop as well as hosting events and having an event space that can be used for a variety of occasions (it has open spaces, is accessible and contains a working kitchen). The church has been led by women pastors for about the last 30 years, and many of the members are part of their community in ways where they can contribute.
Project Sanctuary is spiritual healing made accessible to marginal communities; highlighting and bolstering queer/LGBTQIA+ folx, B.I.P.O.C., and people who have been outcasted by religious, institutional, and social organizations. These spaces are led by two queer trauma informed healers of many categories (sound,breath, reiki etc.), who have both experienced first hand the harm of spiritually institutionalized spaces and the barriers they imply toward healing and connecting with our own sovereignty when it comes to connecting with Spirit/Creator/God/All That Is.
At Miss Carol's Breakfast, "Cathedral volunteers serve breakfast at the Cathedral every Saturday morning to an average of 130 unhoused people... Usually consisting of hard-boiled eggs, fruit, bread, and coffee."
"We strive to be a congregation that welcomes all, and we especially embrace our LGBTQ+ sisters, brothers, and siblings. The Cathedral is a place where everyone can bring their full selves to worship and be in fellowship."
A Unitarian Universalist church that openly welcomes members of all identities. They strive to be inclusive by adhering to seven principles:
1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your age, ethnicity, race, sex, sexual orientation, physical challenge, religion, or political affiliation.
