"The International Institute of St. Louis provides opportunities for immigrants and refugees to thrive in order to create a welcoming, prosperous, and healthy region for all. The Institute programs include Intensive social work case management, Behavioral Health Wellness, opportunities for Economic Development (i.e. financial literacy and business classes), Refugee Support Services, Refugee Resettlement, Immigration Services, Federal/State Benefits applications, and much more! Works most with foreign-born clients, including male, transgender and gender non-conforming clients (unlike many other local organizations who work only with cisgender female clients), both adult and adolescent clients Offers many services for new arrivals to the St. Louis area. Services include: English classes for adults, job search, employment training, career advancement program and assistance with licensing, refugee resettlement, immigration application preparation, mental health services, elderly services, counseling, services to victims of domestic violence or human trafficking, translation services, assistance with starting a business, and more. Community Development Corporation This subsidiary of the International Institute helps immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs who want to start or expand small local businesses, but lack access to mainstream capital. IICDC provides business loans ranging from $500 to $35,000. IICDC also provides technical assistance includes help in writing business & marketing plans, obtaining business licenses, addressing credit issues and linking to volunteer professionals. Its goal is to help entrepreneurs become bankable."
