Description
Based in St. Charles and St. Louis County with some services in St. Louis City. Provides comprehensive services for at-risk youth through their Emergency Shelter, Transitional Living Program, Street Outreach, Head Start, Safe Place, School and Community Based Counseling, & Foster Care and Adoption Case Management programs. Services are trans inclusive and placements should be made in accordance with gender identity.
Provides individual and group support (including support from a therapist and registered nurse), access to resources, pregnancy/delivery/parenting support, and childbirth classes for pregnant and parenting youth up to age 19. Free individual, group and family counseling for youth living in St. Louis County and St. Charles County
Weekly teen parent support groups, individual counseling, nurse on staff for checkups and birthing classes. Baby care items for all youth that enroll in the program. Services are free of charge.
Service Details:
- Offers: Voluntary 12-bed emergency residential group home in St. Charles. Offers individual, family and group counseling, crisis intervention, case management services, and daily educational groups.
- Requirements: Youth, ages 10 to 19, who are in crisis.
- Contact: Intakes scheduled via 24-Hour Help Line (636-946-3771) or on a walk-in basis at the Emergency Shelter. Can also email rbell@youthinneed.org (not monitored daily). During the enrollment assessment, staff will provide the child or teen with their immediate needs, explain the program, services and participation requirements, and secure voluntary commitment to participate in the program.
- Offers: Voluntary 10-bed transitional living program in St. Charles. Provides the basic needs of housing, food, safety and financial security by helping teens save money. A second component of the program is supported living apartments (ages 18 to 21) and the next step in the continuum of services Youth In Need provides. Offers case management services, life skills instruction, group and individual therapy. In addition, program participants are encouraged to be involved in an educational program, to be employed and to be regularly saving a portion of their income so that they are financially able to live independently once they leave the program.
- Requirements: Youth ages 16 to 21. The home also can accommodate two pregnant teens or parenting teens with up to two children, ages birth to 3.
