Description
Provides housing and related supportive services to improve quality of life and health outcomes for people affected by HIV/AIDS. An interfaith organization established in 1988, whose sole mission is the provision of safe, secure and affordable housing for people living with HIV/AIDS. Provides a complete continuum of housing options ranging from direct rental subsidy to licensed residential care units. Services available 15 Missouri and Illinois counties surrounding the metropolitan St. Louis region. Clients receive 1:1 Care Coordination, Behavioral Health Services, Career Services, Self-Development Programming, Community Events, and Access to Resources.
- Homeless or unstably housed.
- Live in the DOORWAYS service area, which encompasses the 15-county St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and 117 under-served rural counties in Missouri and Illinois.
- Most clients are referred to DOORWAYS by their Ryan White medical case manager. If you contact DOORWAYS without that referral, staff will help you enroll in the Ryan White Program to receive a referral for services.
To be eligible for the Ryan White Program, you must:
- Have an HIV/AIDS diagnoses from a medical provider.
- Be considered low income as determined by city, county, state, or clinic’s financial criteria.
Housing Programs:
- Fifty units of flexible housing are provided in Allen House, which is located on the Jefferson Avenue Campus. Offers a model of care to co-locate housing with ONSITE comprehensive supportive services offering 360 degrees of coordinated care. Also located on campus, Elliott Place offers 39 permanent housing apartments.
- 60- to 90-day stays. Care coordinators assist participants with accessing resources to help them on the journey to more independent and/or permanent housing. Each night, Doorways leases 80+ units for individuals and families who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness.
- Six housing buildings with 92 permanent housing apartments that include one-bedroom units for individuals and two-, three-, and four-bedroom units for families with children. Residents are supported with an array of resources to assure stabilization, health, and opportunities for a more independent life by strengthening the social determinants of health.
