Description

THISTL is a trans-led organization founded in 2022 that aims to tackle the systemic injustices that trans humans face in the housing sector. Please reach out to programs@thi-stl.org for more information.

Services include:

  • Rental/Financial assistance for trans humans facing housing insecurity. Funding is limited and applications typically open late Winter/early Spring.
  • Classes for trans and gender nonconforming adults, such as Economic Wellness, Homebuyer Education, and Credit Wellness. Attendance is covered and participants receive a stipend upon completion.
  • Advocacy for trans humans facing discrimination in housing/shelter processes through the TRANSforming Fair Housing in St. Louis project
  • For shelter providers, THISTL offers in person trans competency trainings and the opportunity to vet that organizations policy's non-discrimination and equal access. If you are a housing provider in St. Louis, please email contact@thi-stl.org to get more information about their free training and policy review.
  • THISTL also collaborates with STL Name Change Mutual Aid and other volunteer organizations to put on Gender Marker clinics for assisting folks in updating their Driver's Licenses and Birth Certificates. Information about these clinics are posted on their social media platforms.

THISTL does not currently have case management capacity or housing of their own, but you can always email them to see what resources they can lift up and help connect you to.
