Elizabeth “Beth” Austin (she/they) is a counselor at Affective Movement Counseling. They specialize in trauma-informed, somatic focused individual therapy for adults and support groups for adolescents and adults.
Beth works with varied clients looking for support in areas they struggle, with focus on those experiencing life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, and identity exploration. Her experience has included working with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, those that have lived with/recovering from eating disorders (both in out patient and higher levels of care), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Methods include: Traditional talk therapy, dance, movement, and experiential therapy. Integration of traditional therapies and creative arts available for clients interested. Some clients come specifically to engage in dance/movement therapy or EMDR.
Bio: Beth is an Afro-Cuban, mixed race, queer child of an immigrant father. They grew up first in southern California and then in St. Louis, Missouri. Personally and professionally she works towards an anti-racist, equitable, and inclusive existence and prioritize experiences that share these values.
