Description
Intensive Outpatient Program in St. Louis
Mercy Hospital St. Louis offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) at our Edgewood Behavioral Health Center for adults and adolescents struggling with mental health, coping responses to life stressors, and co-occurring substance use issues. IOP can be an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or a step down from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Most commercial insurance providers cover services with an average stay of four to five weeks.
IOP Program Requirements
Our IOP programs require patients with the following criteria:
- Require a higher level of care than traditional outpatient individual/family therapy.
- Struggle with moderate to severe symptoms and decreased ability to function at work, school, and relationships.
- Have experienced a recent inpatient stay and need ongoing stabilization, support, and structure.
