Jane Bufe, OTD

Description
Dr. Jane Bufe is an Occupational Therapist & Founder of Your Supportive Place She believes everyone deserves the opportunity to engage fully in life, regardless of ability. Her approach as an occupational therapist is rooted in mutual respect, adaptability, and collaboration. She provides in-home occupational therapy services in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles, Missouri. She also offers telehealth occupational therapy services throughout Missouri.
Dr. Jane Bufe's Professional Philosophy includes:
-
Adaptive strategies over “one-size-fits-all” solutions. There is no single “right” way to complete a task. What matters is finding what works best for you. When determining strategies, she considers your personal abilities, as well as your environment.
-
Disability is not the problem. Lack of accommodation is. There is no shame in being disabled. The burden falls on the world to create accessible environments that support everyone.
-
Dr. Jane Bufe is here to support, not change you. Her role is to help you navigate daily life in ways that align with your strengths, values, and needs.
-
Self-regulation matters more than compliance. Dr. Jane Bufe prioritizes strategies that help you feel calm, rather than focusing on you behaving a certain way.
-
Challenging yourself should feel achievable, not defeating. If you're motivated, she may encourage you to stretch your skills, but she’ll ensure the challenge is manageable.
-
Problem-solving requires patience and experimentation. Dr. Jane Bufe doesn’t offer solutions until she fully understands the barriers, and she embraces a trial-and-error approach to finding what works.
-
Caregiver involvement is beneficial. If you use caregiver support, Dr. Jane Bufe will encourage their participation in therapy.
-
You are the expert in your own life. Dr. Jane Bufe doesn’t assume to know what’s best for you. Instead, she'll collaborate with you to find solutions that fit.
Her goal is not just to help you function better but to help you thrive in a meaningful way. If this approach resonates with you, Dr. Jane Bufe would love to connect!
