  • 7.6 Other Transition Services
Saint Louis University’s (SLU) Reinert Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic offers gender-affirming voice training as a way for clients to work to align their voice and communication to better represent their gender and desired gender positioning. The gender-affirming voice training program - launched by the university’s Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) department in June 2021 - has seen patients ranging from ages 19 – 49 and has helped trans females, trans males and non-binary individuals find their voice. The clinic operates as a no-fee clinic, allowing us to serve a wide range of clientele who may otherwise not have the resources to afford assessment or treatment. The clinic operates thanks, in part, to donations from the public.

Midwest Gender-Affirming Care Guide

More about Midwest Gender-Affirming Care Guide
  • 7.1 Gender Clinics & Centers
  • 7.2 Hormone Replacement Therapy
Throughout the Midwest region of the United States, there have been numerous restrictions to accessing gender-affirming care. This guide aims to highlight resources that are still available for people to negate the adverse health consequences associated with limiting gender-affirming care. This list is not comprehensive, nor does it endorse the specific providers and clinics, its function is to allow a starting place for people to discover what options might be out there. Additionally, even if a service is listed as ""no"", that service may still be provided but it is just not advertised online. Individual research is encouraged to make sure that a provider or clinic is right for the type of care they are interested in. Each of the tabs is organized by state, and within the states, all of the resources are sorted by zip code to easily search for local resources. A legislation tracker is provided that lists bills supporting gender diverse people in green, and ones that may harm gender diverse people in red. This is to gain a foundational understanding as to why particular states may provide a greater number of resources or support for people seeking gender-affirming care.

The Campaign for Southern Equality has launched the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project (STYEP), a new regional effort which provides rapid response support directly to the families of youth who are impacted by anti-transgender healthcare bans in the South. Through STYEP, and in close partnership with state and local organizations, we are providing grants, patient navigation support, and accurate information to impacted families to ensure that youth can access the care they need and deserve, even in the face of oppressive laws. We have developed a regional referral network of providers in access states and are helping as many families as we can through this time of crisis.
